General Maintenance
and Money Saving Tips
Tip #1
Refrigerated equipment must have air flow to function.
Make sure that your condenser coils are clean, free from
trash and debris and unobstructed by boxes or other
objects. This will extend the life of your equipment and
lower your energy costs.
Tip #2
Leaving doors to refrigerated equipment propped open is
a very bad practice. It costs you money in electricity,
robs life from your equipment and your food product.
Tip #3
Changing the air filters on your A/C equipment
regularly is an inexpensive way to keep maintenance and
repair costs down. Clogged A/C filters can cause drips and
leaks, ice-ups, uncomfortable work and customer
environments, etc.
Tip #4
Regularly changing the filters on your ice machines and
beverage dispensers is an easy way to extend the time
between services and keep your drinks clear and free from
that algae taste.
Tip #5
Most small ice machines have an air filter right on the
machine. Cleaning this filter on a regular basis will help
extend the life of your machine and keep energy costs
down. Remove the filter from the unit and use warm soapy
water. Rinse with warm soapy water, dry and re-install.
Tip #6
Clean/bright restrooms promote good customer relations
and employee morale. Make sure your restrooms are checked
and / or cleaned at regular intervals throughout the day.
Tip #7
A quick easy way to tell if the air balance in your
place of business is correct is to hold a napkin or tissue
at an exterior door that is barely open. If the tissue
blows toward the outside you’re in good shape. If the
tissue pulls toward the inside of the building, you have
negative air pressure and that’s bad. Negative air
pressure brings dirt, dust and other contaminants into
your building. To remedy this situation, make sure that
any make up air units, swamp coolers and A/C fans are
running. If after turning these pieces of equipment on you
still have negative air pressure, you probably need to
call us.
Tip #8
When you have service companies out to your location,
ask the technicians if they have any advice regarding your
equipment. They see lots of it everyday and will have some
good suggestions on how to keep your repair and
maintenance costs down. They are at your site already and
the extra 5 minutes it takes probably won’t cost you
anything.
